Success! Global Literacy Project

Thank you to everyone involved in making this event a true success. With everyone’s full attention and contribution we were able to have the container FULL of equipment and books embark on its journey to Mpumalanga District of South Africa to assist and provide a better environment for learning and developing for the future. Our goal has been met for this first container and so a big THANK YOU to everyone from the Simcoe County Board of Education, Rotary Club of Collingwood, Rotary Club of Alliston, Rotary Club of South Georgian Bay, Rotaract Club of South Georgian Bay, Rotary Club of Innisfil, Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia, Rotary Club of Grand Bend, YMCA Collingwood and YMCA Barrie.Here is a condensed list of the goods that we packed and shipped in the container:

 

700 boxes of books which is 17,500 books

240 student desks

7 teacher desks

7 tables

36 book shelves

479 student chairs

4 pianos

9 screens/easels

4 chalk boards

1 sewing machine

130 milk bag mats

Assortment of sports equipment, primary toys, and school supplies (this includes 100 hockey sticks)
